Uniform Information

As part of our continued commitment to promoting active, healthy lifestyles through our OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) approach, we moved to an active school uniform from September 2026.

This exciting shift is in line with a growing national campaign encouraging schools to adopt uniforms that support movement and play throughout the day. You can read more about the research and thinking behind this initiative on the Youth Sport Trust website.

Active uniform allows children to wear plain black or navy shorts, leggings or jogging bottoms (no logos) all year round, paired with their usual school polo shirt and jumper or cardigan. This change means children are always ready for active play—whether it’s a spontaneous game at breaktime or a quick burst of movement to refocus in class.

Summer dresses, skirts and pinafores can still be worn—we would suggest that they are paired with shorts underneath to facilitate more confident and comfortable play.

Recommended footwear is plain black trainers for all pupils, rather than traditional school shoes. For many children, especially girls, traditional school shoes can be impractical and often not supportive enough for active and all-weather play, trainers offer a far more practical and comfortable option for active days. While school shoes can still be worn by those who prefer them, we would encourage all children to wear trainers if possible.

Although not compulsory, parents may purchase a selection of branded school items showing the school logo. These can be bought directly from our uniform provider Brigade Clothing. Full details can be found by accessing their website at www.brigade.uk.com/parents

Alternatively, the school has a range of pre-loved uniform which can be purchased directly from school at a cost of 50p per item. Please contact the school office for more information

Please note:

  • Children should have a named outdoor waterproof coat and a pair of wellies, enabling them to go out in all weathers (wellies can be stored at school in our welly shed)
  • Book bags can be purchased from Brigade Clothing – all children in Hedgehogs class will need a book bag NOT a rucksack
  • Please no hooped earrings, just studs, and no other jewellery (bracelets, necklaces)
  • No make-up, no nail varnish or false nails
  • Pupils are expected to look neat and smart at all times and we rely on the co-operation of our parents/carers to maintain our high standards.
  • Plain knitted hats can be worn in cold weather. Navy baseball caps or sun hats can be worn in warm weather.

Our School outfitters are:

Brigade Clothing at www.brigade.uk.com/parents.  Items are delivered to the school FOC every two weeks.

We hold a minimum amount of uniform at school which can be ordered via Parentmail but would prefer parents to order via our supplier.

We also have second hand uniform in our school entrance – donations are welcome.
