All children at Shottery Primary school are expected to have a tidy appearance.
We expect them to dress smartly and for hairstyles to be appropriate, makeup is not permitted. The school reserves the right to ask parents to re-style inappropriate haircuts.
Children are permitted to wear watches but other jewellery should be avoided unless it is for medical or religious reasons. Stud earrings may be worn although but must be removed for PE because of Health and Safety. Children will be asked to remove jewellery for PE if they wear it to school on those days when PE takes place and the school cannot be held responsible if personal belongings go missing. For this reason watches and stud earrings should be avoided on PE days. Staff are not allowed to refit earrings if they are removed for PE.
Most children wear uniform and although this is not compulsory we do encourage it, as we find it sets a level playing field and avoids unnecessary fashion competitions. It also helps to develop a work ethic and for children to see themselves as a member of a community or team.
Our school colour is royal blue and as such we hope that sweatshirts, fleeces, pullovers, cardigans, T-shirts, etc., will be chosen in this colour. These items should be worn with grey trousers/shorts or skirts, or blue checked or striped summer dresses. Shirts and blouses should be white, grey or light blue. Shoes should be of a traditional school style, in black, brown or navy, trainers should only be worn as part of a KS2 PE lesson and are not appropriate for general lessons.
School uniform can be purchased from the school office or ordered and paid for online through Parentmail 2.
